Carajillo Cocktail Recipe

CARAJILLO COCKTAIL Recipe

The Carajilo cocktail, coffee and liquor or spirit, is a popular serve in Mexico, with Licor 43 being one of the preferred choices due to the delicately spiced rich vanilla notes of the liqueur combining so well with coffee. Its origin dates back to Cuba’s Spanish colonial history. The soldiers of the colonial troops mixed coffee with alcohol to gain courage.

INGEDIENTS

  • ½ cup / 40 ml / 1 ⅓ oz. Espresso coffee (freshly brewed and hot)
  • 45 – 60 ml / 1 ½ to 2 oz. Licor 43
  • 8 ice cubes

METHOD

  1. In an Old Fashioned glass, pour 1 ½ to 2 ounces of Licor 43 over ice.
  2. Slowly pour freshly brewed Espresso over the top. To float the espresso for a layered look, pour gently over the back of a spoon and serve with a cocktail stirrer.
