80s COCKTAIL RECIPES

If you put it nicely, the 1980s were an interesting time for cocktails. Although neon cocktails made with pre-made mixes in a rudimentary style have killed the original cocktail culture almost forever. Still, it’s fun to look back today, whether you want to host an 80s party or just to remember what drinking was like 30 years ago.


Fuzzy Navel

STORY

A Fuzzy Navel is a mixed drink of peach schnapps and orange juice. It is a very simple mixed drink of the 80s. If you’re planning your next 80s party, Fuzzy Navel should not be missed.

INGREDIENTS

  • 90 ml/ 3 oz. Peach Schnapps
  • 90 ml/ 3 oz. orange juice
  • orange wheel

METHOD

  1. Pour the schnapps into a highball glass. 
  2. Add ice and top with fresh orange juice.
  3. Stir and garnish with an orange wheel.

Sloe Gin Fizz

STORY

Sloe Gin is from England and has everything to do with “Sloe Berries”. These are small wild berries that are found everywhere in England. Purely they taste terrible. But the English have found a great way to use the Sloe Berries. Of course, by soaking in alcohol. The berries were dipped in a gin with a touch of sugar. And so Sloe Gin was born.

INGREDIENTS

  • 60 ml/ 2 oz. Sloe Gin
  • 20 ml/ ¾ oz. lemon juice
  • soda water
  • lemon wedge

METHOD

  1. Add all ingredients to a highball glass.
  2. Add ice and top with soda water.
  3. Stir gently and garnish with a lemon wedge.

Alabama Slammer

STORY

This cocktail was popular with students in the 1980s. An Alabama Slammer is a cocktail of Amaretto, Southern Comfort, Sloe Gin and orange juice. The Alabama Slammer is the top drink for your next 80s party.

INGREDIENTS

  • 30 ml/ 1 oz. Southern Comfort
  • 30 ml/ 1 oz. Sloe Gin
  • 30 ml/ 1 oz. Amaretto
  • 60 ml/ 2 oz. orange juice

METHOD

  1. Add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice.
  2. Strain into a highball glass with fresh ice.
  3. Garnish with a cherry and orange wheel.
