HUGO Cocktail Recipe

I was in Munich (Germany) at the weekend and everyone is drinking Hugo. The Hugo Cocktail is a refreshing, comparatively weakly alcoholic cocktail of Prosecco, elderflower syrup, lime wheels, fresh mint and soda water. The Hugo Cocktail spread, starting from South Tyrol, after 2005 especially in the German-speaking area.

INGREDIENTS  

  • 30 ml/ 1 oz. elderflower syrup
  • 120 ml/ 4 oz. Prosecco
  • 30 ml/ 1 oz. soda water
  • ice cubes
  • mint
  • lime

METHOD

  1. Gently muddle the mint leaves within the glass.
  2. Add the elderflower syrup before filling the glass with ice.
  3. Top with Prosecco and the soda water.
  4. Garnish with two lime wheels and mint sprig.

Banana Boat Cocktail Recipe

After a boat trip on Lake Starnberg, I got the idea to show you a boat cocktail. The Banana Boat is a cocktail that uses  Gin, Banana Liqueur and orange juice in order to make a nice strong banana flavored drink.

INGEDIENTS

  • 45 ml / 1 ½   oz. Gin
  • 30 ml / 1 oz. banana liqueur
  • 90 ml / 3 oz. orange juice
  • 3-5 dashes Grenadine

METHOD

  1. Combine all ingredients in shaker, excluding Grenadine.
  2. Shake!
  3. Strain into glass with ice.
  4. Top it with Grenadine.
  5. Garnish with an orange slice with cherry.

Paradise Cocktail Recipe

STORY

After a trip to Nolde, I was very inspired of the colourful pictures there and decided now to make a colourful cocktail called Paradise Cocktail. This tropical layered cocktail is a sweet island drink that is sure to make you feel as though you are sipping on some warm beach while the sea washes over your feets.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 oz. Malibu Coconut
  • 3 oz. pineapple juice
  • ¼ oz. Blue Curaçao
  • 1 oz. water
  • 1/2 oz. Grenadine
  • crushed ice

METHOD

  1. Put the pineapple juice and Malibu in a glass and stir.
  2. Take another glass and fill the blue curacao and the water into the glass.
  3. Now you take your cocktail glass and fill in the Grenadine. Then fill the glass with crused ice.
  4. Add the pineapple Malibu mix and put the Blue Curaçao water mix on the top of the cocktail.

NOTES

Emil Nolde was one of the leading painters of Expressionism. He was one of the first oil painting and watercolor painters of the early 20th century to explore color. He is known for his brushwork and expressive choice of colors.. Some of his pictures can be seen in the Emil Nolde Foundation in Seebüll / Germany.
