AIGUA DE VALÈNCIA COCKTAIL Recipe

The Aigua de València (engl. Valencia Water) cocktail is often prepared and served as a punch in pitchers; it is a popular drink in the tapas bars of the Spanish city of Valencia. This potent Spanish twist on the Mimosa is authentically made using juice from oranges grown in the Valencia region. It is perfect for a relaxed, hot afternoon—best enjoyed in the Spanish sunshine.

INGREDIENTS

  • 75 ml/ 2 ½ oz. Cava sparkling wine
  • 30 ml/ 1 oz. London dry Gin
  • 30 ml/ 1 oz. Vodka
  • 30 ml/ 1 oz. orange juice
  • 15 ml/ ½ oz. sugar syrup

METHOD

  1. Pour slowly chilled sparkling wine into ice-filled glass.
  2. Take a mixing glass and fill it ⅔ full off ice.
  3. Add the other ingredients and stir until chilled.
  4. Strain into the glass over the chilled sparkling wine.
  5. Garnish with an orange slice.
